Why support Woodmen Theater?

Supporting our high school theater program is not just an investment in the arts; it's an investment in the future of Greenwood. Strong arts programs foster a positive community image and enhance resident morale which is a win-win for everyone.

You can play a vital role in enhancing theater education and talent development in Greenwood schools which will nurture creativity, communication, resilience, teamwork and adaptability among our students who are the future leaders of Greenwood.

Who are we?

The goal of Woodmen Theater is to be a place where all students are embraced and valued. Regardless of ability we want everyone to play a role.

Over the past 8 years, it has been our goal to include more students in our productions.

Below are a few of our accomplishments:

  • This year marks the 6th season that our art students have worked with their teacher, Mrs. Gullery, to design and execute a plan for our musical set. With over 50 students across two periods, the art department will work for a month on a project that uses their individual skills to adapt to the needs of the director and the production.

  • At Greenwood, we value all our students’ abilities and talents. Our singers, dancers, and actors may be center-stage, but we would be nothing without our technical team. This year will be the 2nd year where the advanced construction class will be working on building our sets. Our goal is for students to work with a client (the director) to meet and, hopefully, exceed artistic and design expectations to give them real world experience.

  • The musical Oklahoma! was the first time a student with special needs had a performing role in our show. This year we will have more roles available so that all students have the opportunity to express their love of music and drama. With the help of our student leaders, we can make this dream a reality.

  • This year marks the inauguration of our first ever student-led production. The students not only picked the show, they cast, rehearsed, raised funds, built sets and costumes, and marketed the show themselves. They are not only bringing a fresh outlook to Woodmen Theater but are also developing greater leadership skills.
